ZHIYUN Presents the Latest Innovation at Photokina 2018
2018-09-20

Shenzhen19 September 2018 - According to estimates by InfoTrends, a total of 1.2 trillion digital photos were taken worldwide in 2017, which is about 160 pictures for every one of the roughly 7.5 billion people inhabiting planet earth.

What is causing this boom in photography? Certainly the fact that more than a billion people constantly carry around a device that enables them to save every cherished moment or impactful moment in their life and document the best experience or moment of their life.

ZHIYUN, the award-winning tech pioneer and world leader in gimbals and stabilizers for both professional filmmakers and personal video creators, is presenting its latest in innovation solutions at the international PHOTOKINA trade show: the WEEBILL LAB, a 3-axis gimbal stabilizer for mirrorless cameras. The new series is named after the Weebill, which is Australia's smallest bird.

Agile as a Bird

As its name suggests, the WEEBILL LAB is a portable and lightweight stabilizer with a flexible and ergonomic design. It comes in a kit with an aluminum alloy tripod.

For the first time in the industry, a wireless HD streaming technology is integrated in a gimbal, which supports real-time monitoring, as well as framing and parameter control

over the camera. A smartphone or tablet can be used as a monitor. An additional and expensive external monitor is therefore not required.

With ZHIYUN’s innovative control system, camera settings can be changed directly, and shots be framed perfectly  and remotely before a shot.

More Details on Design

The axis are designed with notches instead of a smooth surface, which reduces the weight of the axis. The battery bin is one of the highlights, with a 1/4 inch screw hole that can be mounted on the tripod as a handgrip, so the gimbal can easily enter an underslung position, giving an effortless and unique filming experience to videographers.

With the compact phone clamp, a phone can perfectly be mounted on the gimbal to be used as a monitor. It carries out the legacy of professional photographic equipment, with a large area of precision metal in elegant black.
To preserve more peak moments, the WEEBILL LAB is equipped with a double-quick release plate in both Manfrotto and Arca-Swiss standards and a crafted latch, adding to its portability and ease of setup.

ZHUYUN market research indicates that the use of mirrorless cameras is on the increase. The company therefore started a new product line to meet the market’s needs. Designer Bangming ZHENG: “We like to “think out of box” by creating more possibilities to use a gimbal and that’s why we revolutionized the shape and design. We also do not want to needlessly add features by sacrificing the ease of use or adding bulky accessories, so we keep it compact and make it an all-in-one package.“ - A prototype of the new Crane 3 LAB will also be shown at Zhiyun’s booth at PHOTOKINA 2018 from September 26 to 29. Zhiyun can be found at Hall 2.1 Booth C-30.
